Series Description Walker Texas Ranger is a 60 minute action series on CBS about a modern day Texas Ranger working out of Dallas, Texas who deals with the criminals he pursues in a more "old west" style. Let's put it this way ... "minimal necessary force" are three words not in his vocabulary! He uses fist fights and martial arts to make his arrests. He always stayed cool and calm but figured that these were bad people and they required rough treatment. Walker Texas Ranger Cast
Chuck Norris .... Cordell "Cord" Walker Walker Texas Ranger Trivia
If you like to see goofs that survived the editor, Walker Texas Ranger had a couple of good ones. At the end of episode #104, "Sons of Thunder - Part 2"; Carlos, Trent and Walker are chasing a cop killer. Carlos' squad car mysteriously changes to another vehicle during the sequence! Then Hays Cooper dies in episode #98, "Days Past" and is alive in episode #92, "A Ranger's Christmas". That might not appear to be a problem as the death aired on television at a later time, but episode #92 was set in the year 1876 (he's alive) and episode #98 was set in the year 1866 (he's dead).
Chuck Norris' karate teacher was Bruce Lee. Chuck went on to win the World Championship in Karate six times! He is the founder of American Tang Soo Do, Chun Kuk Do and the United Fighting Arts Federation! He taught actor Steve McQueen in Karate and Steve suggested that he become an actor.
Clarence Gilyard is much more than an actor! He attended the Air Force Academy for a while and then transferred to Sterling College in Kansas. He was a wide-receiver on the college football team. He's also very involved in children's charities. He rides and ropes in celebrity rodeos to raise money for those charities. He is a spokeman for and the honorary chairman of "Cowboys For Kids". He's also on the board of directors of the "Children's Organ Transplant Association".
In addition to being an "A" student in high school, Nia Peeples was also on the tumbling / volleyball / cheerleading teams. She was also a member of her student council, sang in chorus and sang in a rock & roll band! While attending UCLA she spent her weekends as the opening act for Liberace in Las Vegas! After deciding to vigorously pursue acting, she dropped out of UCLA and worked three jobs so that she could afford acting lessons.
Walker Texas Ranger inspired a "spin-off" series titled, "Sons of Thunder (1999)". Marco Sanchez and Jimmy Wlcek went on (in the same roles) to star in this series which only lasted eight episodes. They started-up a detective agency together.
Noble Willingham has a master's degree in educational psychology. In fact, he taught high school economics in Texas before becoming an actor. When the movie, "The Last Picture Show" was filmed in Texas, he tried out for a part and got it! He ran for Congress in 2000 but lost.
In the very first episode of Walker Texas Ranger titled, "One Riot, One Ranger", Walker said his horse's name was "Cookie". After that, he always uses the name "Amigo" when he talks about his horse. Maybe Cookie passed on?
Country songs were a natural for the TV show. Lee Greenwood, Tracy Lawrence, Lila McCann, Michael Peterson and Collin Raye all sang on the show.
Trivette wrecked three of his cars during the series. He drove the first one into the ocean in "Something in the Shadows" (2-parter; episodes #16 & 17); a truck hit the next one in episode #127, "Angel" and the last one was blown up by a grenade in "Wedding Bells" (2-parter; episodes #178 & 179).
This was a very accident prone series for the fictional characters! Walker was shot, knifed, drugged and torn up by a bear. Trivette was hit by a car twice, shot in the chest, and nearly drowned. C.D. was beaten, knifed, shot and finally poisoned to death. Alex was wshot in the twice, assaulted by a mad man three times and nearly drowned. Gage went deaf in an explosion and was also mauled by a bear. Sydney was shot once.
