Series Description

The Good Doctor TV show is a 60 minute medical drama series that premiered September 25, 2017 on ABC. It is about a young autistic genius surgeon who has does amazing medicine while also dealing with his difficulty relating to others.

The Good Doctor Trivia:

The Good Doctor is based on an award winning South Korean series of the same name.

Actor Daniel Dae Kim (LOST and Hawaii Five-0) bought the rights to The Good Doctor for his production company. He sold the rights to CBS but they eventually decided against producing a pilot. Kim then bought back the rights from CBS and fortunately he and Sony Pictures Television made a deal with ABC to produce the series.

The series premiere episode received mixed reviews from critics who raved about Freddie Highmore's performance but weren't thrilled about the portrayal of autism. The premiere, however, got 11.22 million viewers and became the most watched Monday drama series debut for ABC since the Dangerous Minds premiere in 1996!

Doctor Murphy works at the fictional St. Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose, California.

The Good Doctor is mostly filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia.
