Series Description The First 48 is a 60 minute crime reality series on A&E that examines the steps homicide detectives take is solving crimes including gathering evidence and interviewing both witnesses and suspects. While most of the episodes focus mainly on the first 48 hours of an investigation, some do continue all the way to the end. The First 48 Cast Dion Graham .... Narrator The First 48 Trivia:
The series title comes from the fact that most crimes where the perpetrator is caught are solved within 48 hours after the commission of the crime.
While forensic evidence and other technological detective methods are used on The First 48, this is real-life and shouldn't be confused with the fictional shows like "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation". It's more likely that the location of a murder will be discovered via witness testimony than by discovering an insect in the victims body that only exists in one small part of the U.S. It's refreshing to see how science works rather than what borders on science fiction.
The First 48 Opening Narrative "For homicide detectives, the clock starts ticking the moment they are called. Their chance of solving a murder is cut in half if they don't get a lead within the first 48 hours".
