Series Description

Wanna Bet was a 60 minute game show series on ABC where celebrities wagered on whether or not contestants could accomplish daring stunts. The celebrity who won the most money donated it to their favorite charity.

Wanna Bet Trivia

Wanna Bet was based on the outrageously popular German series titled, "Wetten, Dass ...?" which has aired in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 1981!

Wanna Bet had previously appeared on U.S. television in 1993 as a one hour special on CBS with Evander Holyfield, Victoria Jackson, Martin Mull, and Marsha Warfield as the celebrities and Gordon Elliot along with Mark McEwen as the hosts.

Unfortunately for ABC, Wanna Bet immediately fell to the bottom of the ratings and never recovered. It couldn't even draw an audience away from the repeats being aired on other networks. The first three episodes even had the advantage of following the highly popular "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" but even that didn't help.
