Series Description Tru Calling was a 60 minute dramatic fantasy series on the Fox Network about a young woman who worked in a morgue. The deceased persons she encountered there often died before their time due to an accident, murder, or some other mishap. They needed only say to her, "Help me", and she was transported into the past where she helped them avoid whatever caused their premature death. Tru Calling Cast
Eliza Dushku .... Tru Davies Tru Calling Trivia
The FOX Network nearly canceled Tru Calling at the end of its first season. They reconsidered after the ratings slightly improved before the first season ended and aired five more episodes in the spring of 2005. There was a 26th episode titled, "Twas the Night Before Christmas...Again" that was produced but didn't make it on the air. The show was probably doomed to failure when FOX put it up against "Friends" and "Survivor" for the first season and "CSI" and "The Apprentice" for the second season!
Eliza Dushku was also offered the starring role in a spin-off series featuring her character (Faith) from the series, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (Eliza made twenty appearances in that role). She turned the spin-off down to do Tru Calling. Series creator, Jon Harmon Feldman actually wrote Tru Calling with Eliza in mind for the lead but didn't really think she'd accept the role! Perhaps that was one of the reasons she liked it!
