Spartacus Trivia
The second season of Spartacus was delayed and replaced with a six-part miniseries when Andy Whitfield ("Spartacus") was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Whitfield was scheduled to continue in his role for a short time when doctors reported that he was cancer free but that diagnosis was apparently in error as Whitfield unfortunately passed away on September 11, 2011. He was replaced as Spartacus by actor Liam McIntyre.
Parents should be aware that Spartucus contains strong sexual content, graphic violence and language.
The story of Spartacus has inspired many political leaders throughout history about the rights of all people to be free. Spartacus lived a short life of only 38 years from 109-71 BC. He led slaves in a valiant revolt against the greatest power of all time up to that point, the Roman Empire. The uprising lasted from 73 to 71 BC and is known as the Third Servile War.
