Series Description

The Prime Suspect TV show is a 60 minute crime drama series that premiered on September 22, 2011 on NBC. In this series inspired by the British Prime Suspect Series, no-nonsense female murder investigator Detective Jane Timoney overcomes her male-dominated New York Police precinct to function as perhaps their top crime solver.

Prime Suspect Trivia

Probably due to production cost considerations, Prime Suspect was originally planned to take place in San Francisco, California. The producers came to the conclusion that San Francisco just wasn't a tough enough locale for this show so the setting was moved to New York City.

The UK series that inspired this version was set in London and Manchester. It starred the Academy Award and Emmy winning Helen Mirren as a tough dective with Scotland Yard.
