Vincent Martella .... Phineas Flynn Phineas and Ferb Trivia
The idea for the Phineas and Ferb cartoons came about after series creator Dan Povermire drew a triangular boy in a restaurant on butcher's paper with a crayon. That sketch eventually developed into Phineas. Dan and fellow creator Jeff "Swampy" Marsh worked on the idea for a series centered around that character and pitched it to several networks for an amazing sixteen years before they finally sold it to the Disney Channel.
Phineas and Ferb were first seen on August 17, 2007 on a preview episode titled, "Rollercoaster". Another episode titled "Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror!" was broadcast on September 28, 2007 and episodes began airing on a more regular basis beginning on February 1st of 2008.
Dan Povenmire has stated that the style of comedy on Phineas and Ferb is a combination of that seen on two series he had worked on previously, "Spongebob Squarepants" and "Family Guy".
Along with many other award nominations, Phineas and Ferb won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2010 for "Outstanding Writing in Animation".
Phineas and Ferb live in the ficticious town of Danville that is located in the equally ficticious Tri-State Area in Jefferson County. It has been stated that Danville is near an ocean and is also within a one day drive of Mount Rushmore. It's also surrounded by a forest and has 241,000 inhabitants. Danville is named after Dan Povermire and Jefferson County is named after Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.
Before being changed to Dr. Doofenshmirtz, that character's name was going to be Dr. Meddleshmirtz. Most of Doofenshmirtz's inventions end with "-inator". Dr. Doofenshmirtz often talks about things that happened on prior episodes. It's generally believed that his name is German because the word "Doof" in that language means "stupid".
