Rob Morrow .... Don Eppes Numb3rs Trivia
Charlie Eppes high school year book photo that's shown on Numb3rs is actually a publicity photo of David Krumholtz that was used to promote the 1999 movie he appeared in titled, "10 Things I Hate About You".
The Numb3rs TV show was originally to have centered around the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). When Gary Lorden, the chairman of the math department at Caltech agreed to consult on the series, however, they moved the setting there. Some scenes are actually shot on the campus itself! The pilot for the series was first shown at Caltech and it received a standing ovation from the brainy audience.
Can't place where you've heard the Numb3rs theme music before? It was taken from the "Talking Heads" song "Once in a Lifetime".
Twenty-five years before the Numb3rs TV show began, Rob Morrow appeared as an extra (a member of a Jury) in a skit on Saturday Night Live. That was even more than 10 years before Morrow's series, "Northern Exposure" hit the air waves!
The character on Numb3rs called "Amita Ramanujan" is named after a famous, self-taught, Indian mathematician named "Srinivasa Ramanujan" who did work on the frontiers of number theory during the 1910s and 1920s.
Judd Hirsh portrays the pretty darned intelligent father of Don and Charlie Eppes on Numb3rs. He also played the smartest of the cab drivers on his hit series, "Taxi". It's likely that he's a pretty bright guy in real life too as he has a college degree in Physics! He couldn't have picked a better series than the Numb3rs TV show as a Physics degree requires tons of math!
At the end of episode #44, "Blackout", Alan, Don, and Charlie are home for the evening and beginning to relax when the Taxi TV Series theme song began playing on their television. Judd Hirsh (Alan Eppes) was a main character on that 1978-1983 series!
