Series Description

The No Ordinary Family TV show is a 60 minute fantasy drama series on ABC about the Powell family whose busy lives have left them in bad need of some family bonding so dad convinces his wife and kids to reluctantly join him on a trip to Brazil. When they had nearly arrived, their plane crashes and dumped them into the Amazon river. Apparently, there was something unusual in that particular part of the river because shortly after returning home they discovered that each of them had superhuman abilities (see trivia below). How would having super powers change a life? Would the changes be good or bad? These are the questions that will confront the Powells, possibly for the rest of their lives!

No Ordinary Family Trivia

Michael Chiklis ("The Commish", "Daddio", and "The Shield") plays the father, Jim Powell who is a police artist who has super strength, nothing can harm him, and he can leap tall buildings in a single bound just like Superman.

Julie Benz ("Payne") plays mom, Stephanie Powell who works as a scientist and has super speed just like The Flash.

It's a bit ironic that Michael Chiklis played the role of "The Hulk" in the 2005 movie, "The Fantastic Four". His superpowers on No Ordinary Family are pretty much identical to those he had as The Hulk. In fact, this TV series could easily have been named, "The Fantastic Family of Four"!

Kay Panabaker ("Phil of the Future" and "Summerland") plays the teenage daughter, Daphne Powell who can read minds.

Jimmy Bennett plays the son, JJ Powell who was transformed from a kid suspected of having a learning disability to a teenage mega-genius!

Stephen Collins was originally only going to have a small part on No Ordinary Family but after screening the pilot it was decided to expand his role. Stephen is probably best known for his role as the Reverend Eric Camden on the series, "7th Heaven" but he has also had starring roles on "Working It Out", "The Tattingers", and "Tales of the Gold Monkey" among his numerous other credits.

When Josh Stewart who plays Watcher on No Ordinary Family isn't working as an actor, he also competes in snowboarding and as a boxer.
