Hawaiian Eye Trivia
Tom and Tracy's private investigation firm was appropriately named "Hawaiian Eye Private Investigations".
In addition to taking on private cases, the detective duo were also the house detectives for the Hawaiian Village Hotel.
Tom Lopaka was originally supposed to be half Polynesian but there were no big name stars available with that ethnicity. Robert Wagner was offered the role but turned it down because he wanted to pursue his movie career at that time. Wagner was one of the first actors who would go on to have both a successful movie and TV career. Perhaps his best known role was as Alexander Mundy on the TV series, "It Takes a Thief".
Wagner recommended his buddy Robert Conrad for the role. Conrad had been looking for work for about a year and spent a lot of time at the beach. His deep dark tan gave him the perfect look for a suave guy living in Hawaii and he was given the role.
