Series Description

The Game tv show is a 30 minute comedy series on the CW Network for its first three seasons and then on BET. It is about a group of professional football players' wives. That might sound like a glamorous and stress-free existence, but Melanie Barnett is about to discover the truth. Melanie's boyfriend, Derwin, is the new third-string wide receiver for the San Diego Sabers. While Derwin worries about the plays on the field, Melanie learns about the power plays that NFL wives use to get their men the best agents, managers, endorsements, merchandising deals and even the "in" charity. As she deals with egos, groupies and image consultants, Melanie is finding out how "The Game" is played among the women behind the athletes.

The Game Trivia

The Game TV show is a "spin-off" of the TV series, "Girlfriends". The Game's pilot episode actually aired on April 17, 2006 as an episode of "Girlfriends" titled, "The Game".

The 2006-2007 saw a new television network called "The CW". It was a conglomeration of two former networks, "The WB" and "UPN". Most of the new CW's shows were ones that were formerly on The WB and UPN and The Game was the only new comedy series for the new network in its first season!

The CW canceled The Game after three seasons but the cast and fans fought for its renewal and won! (see video below). After nearly two years off the air it finally returned on BET (Black Entertainment Television) and fans were elated!
