Walter Murphy who wrote the Family Guy theme music also composed lots of arrangements for Doc Severinsen's "Tonight Show" orchestra. Seth MacFarlane who did many of the characters voices also wrote the Family Guy theme's lyrics and created the show!
In episode #71, "Sibling Rivalry" Peter mentions several characters from other TV shows. Among them were Richie and Joanie Cunningham from "Happy Days"; Greg, Marcia, Bobby, and Jan Brady from "The Brady Bunch"; Mike and Carol Seaver and "Boner" from "Growing Pains"; Steve Urkel from "Family Matters" and Mr. Furley from "Three's Company".
Episode #147, "Partial Terms of Endearment" was pulled from the schedule at the end of the eighth season due to the network's concern over how the public would react to an episode about abortion.
