Eastbound and Down Cast
Danny McBride .... Kenny Powers (2009-) Eastbound and Down Trivia:
Don Johnson is actually only ten years older than John Hawkes who plays his son on Eastbound and Down.
Kenny Powers hometown is Shelby, North Carolina which is a real city. The series is actually filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina which doesn't resemble the real-life Shelby all that much either culturally or geographically.
The series is named after the Jerry Reed tune titled, "East Bound and Down". That was the title song for the 1977 film, "Smokey and the Bandit" starring Burt Reynolds. It was originally feared that the title might have to be changed if the owners of the song's copyright sued but that didn't happen. It's very possible that the popularity of Eastbound and Down might actually help generate new revenues for the song.
